00:11 - 00:14 | - But, you are not allowed to say that you have won? |
00:14 - 00:15 | - Why is that? |
00:15 - 00:21 | The reason is... before the competition, you have to sign a contract |
00:21 - 00:23 | which states that we cannot talk about the results |
00:24 - 00:26 | So I cannot tell you now that I won |
00:28 - 00:30 | But we know it anyway |
00:30 - 00:33 | You are the strongest - You don´t have to say yes or no |
00:33 - 00:35 | No comment |
00:35 - 00:38 | But, how do you prepare for a competition like this? |
00:39 - 00:42 | My goal was always to be strong |
00:43 - 00:47 | I can say I have prepared since I was born |
00:48 - 00:50 | I was 5 years old when I started practicing sports |
00:50 - 00:52 | But I have been lifting weights for 9 years |
00:53 - 00:58 | Without a pause - except when I am competing. That is my off season |
00:59 - 01:01 | 2 days before competition - and 3 days after |
01:02 - 01:03 | No even Christmas? |
01:04 - 01:06 | I train on Christmas day |
01:08 - 01:12 | But how do you feel after a hard competition? |
01:12 - 01:15 | Dont you feel exhaustes? |
01:15 - 01:20 | Yes, the day after I had trouble walking - But I´m using both feets now |
01:20 - 01:23 | How old are you? - I´m 26 |
01:24 - 01:28 | In the competiton I have always be the youngest |
01:29 - 01:31 | ...and I´m still the youngest |
01:31 - 01:34 | ... and I´ve always been the best |
01:43 - 01:45 | But for how long have you been in sports? |
01:45 - 01:47 | Since I was 5 years old |
01:47 - 01:50 | Started in wrestling. Trained by my stepfather, Sveinn Guðmundsson |
01:51 - 01:56 | and I was training with the big boys until confirmation |
01:57 - 02:00 | Next was football and handball |
02:03 - 02:07 | I started in karate. I was also a good swimmer |
02:07 - 02:09 | ..and running |
02:10 - 02:12 | But at a time you were a "handball celeb", right? |
02:12 - 02:14 | Correct. I was amazingly good in handball |
02:15 - 02:16 | And I can still play handball |
02:17 - 02:19 | ... yes. Maybe I will |
02:21 - 02:25 | But, you seems to be a man with a good self-confidence |
02:25 - 02:31 | Are you self-confident? ....or are you playing some Muhammed Ali? |
02:32 - 02:35 | That champ was always one of my favorite |
02:36 - 02:39 | But yes. I´m very self-confident. I believe in my self |
02:40 - 02:42 | If you don´t believe in yourself - No one will |
02:44 - 02:46 | But I´m just a normal man |
02:46 - 02:48 | I have my feelings here |
02:52 - 02:54 | I am cool and ice-cold |
02:55 - 03:01 | But when you say cool... You are never seen officially without the cool-drink in your hand |
03:02 - 03:07 | You see... Davíð Scheving he had his bet on the right horse |
03:07 - 03:09 | Can you zoom-in, please |
03:09 - 03:14 | NOTE: SVALUR was an icelandic fruit juice - SVALUR means "cool" |
03:14 - 03:17 | Ok. But do you make a living off this? |
03:17 - 03:18 | - Yes |
03:18 - 03:20 | - "The Waterbed Store" City Avenue... |
03:20 - 03:22 | City Avenue 29 |
03:23 - 03:25 | You see. I drink SVALI. The drink is water |
03:25 - 03:29 | The body is also made out of water |
03:29 - 03:33 | So it´s very nice to relax in a waterbed after a hard day |
03:33 - 03:34 | ...with SVALI in your hand |
03:34 - 03:37 | But one final question |
03:37 - 03:39 | You refuse to show me tonight how strong you are |
03:40 - 03:42 | I've begged you many times |
03:42 - 03:45 | Yes. Now you have to put pressure on the TV station |
03:45 - 03:47 | to broadcast the competition |
03:47 - 03:49 | at the same time they show it in Britain |
03:50 - 03:52 | it´s 1st of January. - 6 o´clock |
03:52 - 03:54 | But instead you have to describe it with words |
03:54 - 03:56 | How strong are you? |
03:57 - 03:59 | I hope I will be stronger |
03:59 - 04:01 | But this competition, World's Strongest Man |
04:01 - 04:05 | It´s a general strongman competition |
04:05 - 04:08 | You have to be fast. Have strength to lift |
04:08 - 04:11 | You have to throw - Run fast |
04:11 - 04:13 | And I can do all af this |
04:14 - 04:17 | That´s why... I´m the best |
04:21 - 04:23 | One thing... |
04:23 - 04:27 | Many people can lift heavier than me in many challange |
04:28 - 04:31 | But I´m the most "equal-strongest" |
04:32 - 04:34 | Jón Páll. Strongest man in the world |
04:34 - 04:36 | Thank you for being here |
